This week saw Airbus reveal its orders and deliveries for February 2023. 46 aircraft were delivered, and 99 gross orders were secured!

Every month, Airbus publishes its orders and deliveries for the previous month in order to detail its progress toward order and delivery targets.

Without further ado, let’s get into the numbers…

46 Aircraft Delivered…

As mentioned, the European planemaker delivered 46 aircraft in February 2023, with this broken down into the following:

• A220-300: 3
• A319neo: 0
• A320neo: 13
• A321neo: 26
• A330-200: 0
• A330-900: 1
• A350-900: 2

Year-to-date, this is broken down into the following:

• A220-300: 5
• A319neo: 2
• A320neo: 19
• A321neo: 34
• A330-200: 1
• A330-900: 2
• A350-900: 3

This means that 66 aircraft have been delivered year-to-date by Airbus.

A Near Century for Airbus On The Orders Front…

On the orders front, they were slightly distorted by the Qatar Airways high court ruling that Airbus needs to deliver the outstanding aircraft.

Therefore, the 99 orders received in February are as follows:

Year-to-date, Airbus has received net orders of 124 aircraft from a series of undisclosed customers as well as big names such as Delta Air Lines, Uzbekistan Airways, Qatar Airways & British Airways.

Highlights from February…

There were two major highlights for Airbus in February 2023.

As mentioned above, the first came from the European planemaker and Qatar Airways, ending its high court dispute amicably.

The agreement means both parties will now avoid a court case worth over $2 Billion in what is being earmarked as an unprecedented public rift.

“Both parties can now continue to move forward as partners”, Airbus said in a statement.

Another highlight, which will be noted in the March 2023 numbers, was Air India’s blockbuster order for 250 Airbus aircraft.

The commitment includes 140 A320neo and 70 A321neo single-aisle aircraft, as well as 34 A350-1000 and six A350-900 wide-body jets.

Airbus sales chief Christian Scherer said the following on the order:

“This is a historic moment for Airbus and for Air India. India is on the verge of an international air travel revolution, and we are honored that our partnership with the Tatas and our aircraft solutions will write that new chapter for the country’s air-connectivity,”

Overall…

It remains clear that Airbus has had a steady month in February 2023. As the year progresses, we will continue to see production ramp up in order to achieve that big target of 720 aircraft.

All eyes will also be on the European planemaker ahead of the Paris Air Show as order negotiations will no doubt be taking place in the run-up to it.

But for now, all eyes are on Airbus to see what March’s numbers look like and whether we could see any more blockbuster orders anytime soon.
