In a rather bizarre turn of events, an easyJet flight to London Gatwick from Tenerife was delayed over a “defecation incident”.
easyJet Flight from London Cancelled Over Defecation Incident…

It is understood that easyJet flight U28054 from Tenerife South to London Gatwick was the affected flight, with initial reports stating that the flight had been cancelled due to this defecation incident.
U28054 was supposed to depart at 2005 local time, but due to this incident, the aircraft didn’t depart until 2323 local time, causing an arrival time of 0340 local this morning.
As per the MailOnline (Of which you can see photos from the scene there), easyJet said the following on this:

So we’ve been given the excuse of a toilet being defecated in for the reason for a CANCELLED flight?! @easyjet this is UNACCEPTABLE!! Your customer care is ATROCIOUS. 100s of passengers left STRANDED in the airport terminal! Do something!!!! pic.twitter.com/zn3jCoFIVJ

“easyJet can confirm that flight EZY8054 from Tenerife to London Gatwick yesterday evening was delayed overnight due to the aircraft requiring additional cleaning.”
“We did all possible to minimise the impact of the disruption for our customers, providing hotel accommodation and meals and the flight is due to depart this afternoon.”
“The safety and wellbeing of our customers and crew is easyJet’s highest priority and while this was outside of our control, we would like to apologise to customers for the inconvenience caused.”
The airline had been criticised by those on social media for the lack of communication to passengers in the midst of this defecation incident.
With the flight being delayed three and a half hours, this does fall into the category for potential compensation. So all eyes will be on how many passengers choose to claim this.
