It has emerged that an American Airlines Boeing 787 between Madrid & Dallas is diverting to St. John’s, minutes after a company 777 has diverted to Montreal.

UPDATE #1 @ 1756 UK time – AA37 is currently at FL240 and is tracking South towards the St. John’s area. Unclear why it is not continuing on to Dallas from Madrid.
UPDATE #2 @ 1757 UK time – As per Planespotters, N828AA is a 6.4 year old Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner that was first delivered to American Airlines back in June 2017.

UPDATE #3 @ 1803 UK time – AA37 is slowly descending through FL210 inbound for St. John’s. Unclear whether the aircraft will continue on to Dallas from Madrid at this point.
UPDATE #4 @ 1804 UK time – Current weather at the diversion field is quite gusty: 250@22G31 at this present time.
UPDATE #5 @ 1807 UK time – AA37 isn’t squawking an emergency code, but whatever is going on onboard is serious enough to be causing a diversion into St. Johns.

UPDATE #6 @ 1813 UK time – American Airlines flight AA37 Madrid-Dallas is currently at 2,800 feet and preparing for landing into the diversion field.

UPDATE #7 @ 1817 UK time – Looks to be a medical emergency onboard AA37, with the Boeing 787 already having a departure slot to continue on to Fort Worth.

UPDATE #8 @ 1820 UK time – AA37 is on final into St. John’s.
UPDATE #9 @ 1825 UK time – TOUCHDOWN! American Airlines flight AA37 has appeared to have touched down safely into St. John’s following a diversion call earlier. The flight, which originated from Madrid, is expected to continue to Dallas Fort Worth shortly.
