In the last few moments, a United Airlines flight between London Heathrow and Washington has declared an emergency over the Manchester area.

UA925 is being operated by N662UA, one of the airline’s Boeing 767-300 aircraft.

UPDATE #1 @ 1701 UK time – United Airlines flight UA925 has done a u-turn and is heading south currently.
UPDATE #2 @ 1703 UK time – As per data from Planespotters.net, N662UA, the Boeing 767 operating the London-Washington flight is a 30.2 year old airframe which was delivered to the airline in August 1993.

UPDATE #3 @ 1704 UK time – UA925 is passing through FL170 to the north of Birmingham. Unclear what the cause of the emergency is at this present time.

UPDATE #4 @ 1712 UK time – UA925 has passed through the Coventry area at FL110. The flight has now changed its squawk to 7625, but will continue to monitor the flight on what looks to be a return to London Heathrow currently.

UPDATE #5 @ 1715 UK time – United Airlines flight UA925 bound for Washington continues its descent out of FL110, with Heathrow looking most likely for the return.

UPDATE #6 @ 1719 UK time – Current METAR at Heathrow ahead of UA925’s arrival back into the UK capital.

UPDATE #7 @ 1724 UK time – UA925 tracking direct north of Heathrow Airport at FL80. Next descent imminent.


UPDATE #8 @ 1727 UK time – UA925 approaching the Base Leg portion of the approach into London Heathrow. Unclear whether the aircraft will continue on to Washington after this.

UPDATE #9 @ 1731 UK time – United Airlines flight UA925 is on finals for Runway 27L at Heathrow after nearly an hour in the air.
UPDATE #10 @ 1732 UK time – Looks like UA925 is going for 27R instead of 27L.

UPDATE #11 @ 1736 UK time – TOUCHDOWN! UA925 appears to have touched down safely into Heathrow following it’s emergency call and u-turn back to the airport. AviationSource will approach United Airlines for a comment on the Washington-bound flight.

UPDATE #12 @ 1738 UK time – Courtesy of @BigJetTVLIVE, UA925 has been met by emergency crews after vacating the runway. Unclear what the issue is.
UPDATE #13 @ 1740 UK time – Reports indicating that it could be a left hand generator failure on the aircraft which caused the emergency. Confirming now.
