UPDATE #1 @ 1741 UK time – FR5663 is descending through FL200, and from cruise, it was descending at around 5,000 fpm previously. Diversion field unclear at this time.

UPDATE #2 @ 1743 UK time – Ryanair flight FR5663 from Edinburgh has made a u-turn north and is descending into Manchester at over 5,000fpm.
UPDATE #3 @ 1744 UK time – As per data from Planespotters, EI-IGG, the Boeing 737 MAX 200 Gamechanger aircraft operating this flight, is 0.7 years old at the time of writing, having been delivered to the Irish low-cost carrier back in February 2023.

UPDATE #4 @ 1745 UK time – FR5663 is approaching the base leg portion of the approach into Manchester Airport, using the 23s.
UPDATE #5 @ 1747 UK time – FR5663 looks to be extending its downwind instead, before turning final onto the 23s at Manchester. Still unclear what the cause of the emergency is.

UPDATE #6 @ 1749 UK time – FR5663 is turning final now for Manchester Airport minutes after its rapid descent and subsequent emergency call.

UPDATE #7 @ 1755 UK time – TOUCHDOWN! Ryanair flight FR5663 from Edinburgh to Malaga has appeared to have touched down safely into Manchester Airport following its subsequent emergency call a few moments ago. Standing by on the reason.
