Lufthansa flight LH630 from Frankfurt to Dubai has made a sharp descent from FL390 to 6,000 feet in a matter of minutes.

At the moment, Dalaman in Turkey looks to be the most suitable diversion field for LH630.

About D-AIKL…

D-AIKL, the aircraft involved this emergency, is a 16.1 year old Airbus A330-300.

As per Planespotters, it was delivered to Lufthansa back in March 2008.

Furthermore, of the A330-300 variant, the German carrier has 10 of them in the fleet, of which nine are in active and one is parked.

Average fleet age for the variant in the airline’s fleet is at 14.7 years.

Rhodes Appears to be the Diversion Field…

Rather than Dalaman, LH630 has made a turn towards Rhodes, and is currently on final approach for an emergency landing.

Despite previous reports of a medical emergency, LH630 diverted to Rhodes due to an electrical smell in the galley.
