A British Airways flight BA665 operating from Larnaca to London Heathrow declared an emergency whilst approaching the destination airport on 21 July 2024.

British Airways flight BA665, an Airbus A321neo, was inbound from Larnaca International Airport when the emergency was declared.

Flight crew declared the emergency with transponder code 7700 during the early stages of the descent and approach into London Heathrow airport (LHR).

The nature of the emergency prompting the declaration has not yet been confirmed.

Flight Details

Flight data shows that flight BA665 had made a delayed departure out of Larnaca International Airport on 21 July.

The flight shows an actual departure time of 1548 local time, against a scheduled departure time of 1435 local.

The aircraft are then set course normally, claiming to flight level FL320 (32,000 feet) for the scheduled service to London (LHR).

Let down and subsequent descent procedures were similarly conducted normally. The flight crew declared an emergency with code 7700 whilst passing through 10,000 feet in the early stages of approach to London.

The flight subsequently landed without incident, and was not met by emergency ground assets.

The aircraft conducting the BA665 rotation from Larnaca was an Airbus A321neo, registered G-NEOY. This is a 4.4-year-old narrowbody aircraft belonging to the national carrier British Airways.

It was built in 1974 after the closure of Nicosia International Airport due to the Turkish invasion of Cyprus.
