UPDATE #1 @ 2119 UK time – BA2033 has been doing a series of holds over Bahrain and is preparing for it’s approach into the airport. Unclear why the Doha-bound flight from London has declared an emergency.

UPDATE #2 @ 2121 UK time – BA2033 is on final approach into Bahrain. Landing imminent in the next few minutes.
UPDATE #3 @ 2127 UK time – TOUCHDOWN! British Airways flight BA2033 from London to Doha has appeared to have touched down safely into Bahrain following the emergency broadcast a few moments ago.
UPDATE #4 @ 2129 UK time – As per Planespotters, G-YMME is a 23.6 year old Boeing 777-200 that was delivered to the carrier back in April 2000.
Of the 777-200 variant, the airline has 16 of them, of which 15 are in active service and one is parked, hosting an average fleet age of 23.7 years across the variants.
AviationSource will approach British Airways for a comment on this emergency. As soon as we find out additional information, we will update this piece accordingly. Standby for further updates in due course.

UPDATE #6 @ 2132 UK time – Weather conditions at Doha have been interesting to say the least. Could it be the British Airways 777 was holding due to this and wouldn’t have enough fuel to get to it’s destination?

UPDATE #7 @ 2133 UK time – This was the path British Airways flight BA2033 took from London to Doha, including several holds before the diversion to Bahrain.

UPDATE #8 @ 2136 UK time – Fuel emergency caused by holds does look to be likely for the BA flight. Take a look at this IndiGo flight which has also diverted to Bahrain in the last few moments.

UPDATE #9 @ 2140 UK time – Current scene from Hamad Airport, where there is precipitation around and multiple flights are holding currently.
