UPDATE #1 @ 2115 UK time – Air New Zealand flight NZ101 is descending out of FL340 at 4,400 fpm.
UPDATE #2 @ 2116 UK time – At this stage, it is unclear what the cause of the brief 7700 squawk transmission was for. Trying to acquire updates on this where we can.

UPDATE #3 @ 2119 UK time – Unconfirmed reports coming in that there could be a medical onboard. Listening to ATC now to see if we can get that confirmed.
UPDATE #4 @ 2120 UK time – As per Planespotters, ZK-NNG, the aircraft operating this rotation between Auckland and Sydney is a 4.2 year old Airbus A321neo.

UPDATE #5 @ 2121 UK time – NZ101 is descending through FL140 as the Airbus A321neo gets closer to the Australian airport.
UPDATE #6 @ 2123 UK time – NZ101 is descending through FL100 now as the aircraft gets ready for its approach into Sydney. Still no further update regarding the initial emergency transmission.
UPDATE #7 @ 2124 UK time – Air New Zealand flight NZ101 from Auckland given clearance to descend down to 6,000 feet as it approaches the base leg portion of the approach.

UPDATE #8 @ 2127 UK time – NZ101 is on base for the 34s into Sydney.

UPDATE #9 @ 2130 UK time – NZ101 is on final approach for Runway 34L, landing expected imminently.

UPDATE #10 @ 2134 UK time – TOUCHDOWN! Air New Zealand flight NZ101 has appeared to have touched down safely into Sydney following a brief emergency transmission call not too long ago. Unconfirmed reports suggest a medical.
