Spirit Airlines and it’s flight movements continue to perform well despite the jet woes that they had in Orlando not too long ago.
Using data from RadarBox.com, we will see how the airline is performing and whether these continued woes could affect the numbers moving forward.
Without further ado, let’s get into it…
The Numbers for Spirit Airlines…

For this week, Spirit Airlines is expected to operate a 7-day rolling average of 853 flights, which represents an increase of 9.08% compared to the same period last year.
Compared to pre-pandemic levels, the airline is around 257 movements ahead of that well-known 2019 period.
Below is the last four weeks’ worth of data representing such averages for the carrier having issues in Orlando:
Date | 2019 Numbers | 2022 Numbers | 2023 Numbers | Percentage Difference (2023 vs. 2022) |
September 26-October 3 | 592 movements | 765 movements | 805 movements | +5.23% |
October 3-10 | 598 movements | 640 movements | 817 movements | +27.66% |
October 10-17 | 605 movements | 762 movements | 865 movements | +13.52% |
October 17-24 | 608 movements | 780 movements | 829 movements | +6.28% |
The data does highlight the number of movements affected by the jet woes in Orlando, but even despite this, they still beat last year’s numbers and comfortably beat 2019’s figure too by some 221 movements.

The Jet Woes in Orlando…

On October 20, Spirit Airlines announced that it would cancel dozens of flights from Orlando due to jet inspections needing to take place.
Via a report from Click Orlando, the airline said the following on this disruption:
“While this action is being taken out of an abundance of caution, the impact to our network is expected to last several days as we complete the inspections and work to return to normal operations.”
“We apologize for the inconvenience and are working to take care of affected Guests.”
“Our Guests are advised to monitor their email and check their flight status on spirit.com or the Spirit Airlines App before heading to the airport.”
It is understood that up to 25 aircraft need to be inspected, which has caused a significant number of flights to be cancelled from the Orlando area.
All eyes will be on the carrier and it’s movement numbers to see how much further they could be affected in the wake of this.
