A question that can definitely be asked is: Could ITA Airways help boost movement numbers for Rome Fiumicino Airport?
The Italian carrier provides the most amount of average daily movements, with RadarBox quoting this as 186 daily movements on average.
Ryanair comes in second with 71 movements, and Wizz Air is third with 43 movements.
Route announcements have been made by all three parties, with the expectation that the Summer period means more flights, which will, in turn, benefit the main airport in Rome.
From the perspective of ITA Airways, as the airline grows in fleet size going into the short and medium-term, movement numbers from Fiumicino Airport will increase in line with that.

It remains clear that Rome Fiumicino Airport is currently dependent on ITA Airways to increase the number of movements weekly if it has any chance of catching up to pre-pandemic numbers.
There is nothing to stop other carriers across Europe to increase frequencies into the airport as well, with that already being observed ahead of the Summer 2023 season.
