Orlando International Airport continues to soar as it has a very strong start to 2023 so far, with more capitalization on the way.
Data from RadarBox.com shows that the airport is making major waves and looks very set up to handle more movements going into the Summer.
Without further ado, let’s get into the numbers…
The Numbers…

For March 26-April 2, Orlando International Airport recorded 1,202 movements, which represents an increase of 18.42% compared to the same period last year.
Such a figure is around 136 movements higher than in the same period in 2019 before COVID-19 was a thing.
Below is the data from the airport for 2023 so far, which shows strong double-digit growth:

What we can see from the data is that 2023 is the first post-COVID year where Orlando International Airport is comfortably exceeding pre-pandemic numbers (2019).
With the Summer 2023 season upon us, this will no doubt continue to creep up as seasonal routes begin and more airlines add frequencies into the area.
JetBlue To Increase its Orlando Presence…

One area of future growth that Orlando International Airport is set to benefit from is JetBlue, who made the following announcement earlier in March:
Orlando International Airport will benefit from up to 200 flights from carrier JetBlue by 2027 after its planned combination with Spirit Airlines.
To celebrate this, the carrier is launching a new daily service to Punta Cana and Santiago, which is scheduled to start in November 2023.
Commenting on this news was JetBlue’s CEO Robin Hayes, who emphasized the importance of Orlando to the carrier:
“We are pleased to share our plans to deliver more growth and more jobs in Central Florida, enabled by Florida’s booming economy, our combination with Spirit, and as part of the growth commitments we agreed to with Florida Attorney General Moody”.
“This growth will establish JetBlue as Orlando’s national low-fare carrier of choice, ensuring customers don’t have to choose between low fares and a great experience.”
It is growth like this that the airport will be banking on both in the short and the long term as it continues to grow its presence within the U.S. and overseas.
For now, all eyes are on the airport to see how they perform in the Summer 2023 season.
