As the Dubai Airshow comes to an end, let’s reflect back on the strong week that American planemaker Boeing had at the show.
The manufacturer was able to secure orders for across it’s commercial family of the 737 MAX, 777X & 787 aircraft.
Without further ado, let’s get into it…
The Orders from Boeing at the Dubai Airshow…

At the Dubai Airshow, Boeing sold a total of 293 aircraft, with this broken down into the following orders:
- 90 737 MAXs for SunExpress (45 firm and 45 options).
- 90 777Xs (55 777-9s & 35 777-8s) & 5 more 787s.
- 30 787-9s for flydubai.
- 4 787-9s for Royal Jordanian Airlines.
- 2 787-9s for Royal Air Maroc.
- 7 737 MAX 8s for SCAT Airlines.
- 11 787s (With options for 15 more) and 20 737 MAXs (With options for 20 more) for Ethiopian Airlines.
Announcements were made relatively quickly by Boeing at the Dubai Airshow, amassing those orders over just two days of trading. But there was a reason for that.
Commercial Airplanes CEO Fast Dash to San Francisco…

Stanley Deal, the Boeing Commercial Airplanes CEO had to make a fast dash from Dubai to San Francisco amid a meeting between President Joe Biden & Xi Jinping.
As per a Reuters report, China is weighing up the potential to lift the freeze on orders for Boeing aircraft, and more notably the 737 MAX.
A lift of this freeze could see some landmark orders amongst Chinese carriers for the aircraft type, with the freeze taking place due to the two aircraft that crashed a few years ago.
All eyes will be, of course, on whether Stanley Deal could get this across the line post-Dubai Airshow.

Riyadh Air Order for Boeing Never Surfaced at the Dubai Airshow…

Before the Dubai Airshow started, there was information indicating that Saudi Arabia start-up carrier Riyadh Air was going to make an order at DWC.
This was in the region of around 100 Boeing narrowbodies, with such a deal expected all week.
However, as reported by Aviation Week, it was later reported that the CEO Tony Douglas needs a few more weeks to make a decision on the order, with this expected to be announced on home turf in Riyadh.
So, all eyes will be on how this order will look like in a few weeks time.
Overall: Not A Bad Show From The American Planemaker…

The Dubai Airshow has produced some significant results for Boeing yesterday, as sales momentum across their family of aircraft continues.
Looking ahead, it looks like they have used the airshow as a foundation to set some additional orders up as we head towards the end of the year.
All eyes will be on what the Riyadh Air narrowbody order will look like, as well as whether Stanley Deal can get the China freeze waived in due course.
But for now, it hasn’t been too bad of a week for the American planemaker.
