Based on data from RadarBox.com, Tel Aviv Ben Gurion Airport’s average movements have dropped by 200 flights due to the ongoing conflict in Israel.
Despite the increases in services by home carrier El Al, this hasn’t been enough to counter any drop in movements going in and out of the airport.

For this week (October 17-24), movements at Tel Aviv Ben Gurion Airport are expected to drop by 28.64% to 319 movements.
This will be 128 movements short of last year’s statistics, and 176 short of pre-COVID levels recorded in 2019, based on a seven-day rolling average provided by the flight tracking company.
Below is the last four weeks’ worth of data regarding movement numbers at the airport. You will be able to see the difference within this table:
Date | 2019 Numbers | 2022 Numbers | 2023 Numbers | Percentage Difference (2023 vs. 2022) |
September 19-26 | 527 movements | 457 movements | 536 movements | +17.29% |
September 26-October 3 | 511 movements | 462 movements | 547 movements | +18.40% |
October 3-10 | 431 movements | 426 movements | 546 movements | +28.17% |
October 10-17 | 510 movements | 391 movements | 341 movements | -12.79% |
Within the table, you can see exactly where the drop began, which was a few days after the conflict began, with airlines such as Virgin Atlantic, British Airways, Delta and others cancelling services as a result.
All eyes will be on the statistics to see if we see any further decreases in these numbers moving forward.
