New York’s JFK continues its overall growth plan post-pandemic as the airport comfortably exceeds pre-COVID levels.
Using data from RadarBox.com, we can see that the airport is comfortably ahead of all metrics and is looking to expand on this moving forward.
Without further ado, let’s get into the numbers…
New York JFK’s Movement Numbers Up 12%…

For May 23-30, the airport handled 1,370 movements, which represents an increase of 12.48% compared to the same period last year based on the seven-day rolling average provided by the flight tracking company.
This figure is also 120 movements ahead of the same period in 2019, showing comfortable growth post-pandemic as well.
New York’s JFK handled itself well in 2022 as well, but 2023’s figures show how much they have kicked its operation handling into high gear.
Below is the last four weeks’ worth of data from the airport:
Date | 2019 Numbers | 2022 Numbers | 2023 Numbers | Percentage Difference (2023 vs. 2022) |
April 25-May 2 | 1254 movements | 1239 movements | 1329 movements | +7.26% |
May 2-9 | 1240 movements | 1249 movements | 1357 movements | +8.65% |
May 9-16 | 1258 movements | 1247 movements | 1355 movements | +8.66% |
May 16-23 | 1255 movements | 1250 movements | 1356 movements | +8.48% |
What we can see from the data is that for the periods in 2022, New York’s JFK came close to beating 2019’s numbers, with them now beating it comfortably this year.
Looking Ahead for JFK…

What remains clear is that New York’s JFK is wanting to press ahead to secure as many movements as possible over the Summer.
Looking to the long term with new terminal builds and renovations, the slot-constrained airport is wanting to make the most of what it has got.
And that is showing through the increased movement numbers year-on-year since the COVID-19 pandemic decimated the industry.
But for now, all eyes are on the airport to see how much further they can increase this over the course of the Summer period.
