Amsterdam Schiphol Airport handled 5.8m passengers in October 2023, representing a significant increase compared to the same period last year.

The airport has been under a wave of attacks by airlines over the proposed flight cap, which has since been reversed.

The 5.8m passengers handled in Amsterdam Schiphol represents a 18% increase compared to the same period last year.

Most passengers flew to the UK, Spain, Italy, Spain & Greece. 3.8m departed or arrived in the airport, and two million transferred at the airport.

This month has seen the airport in hot water over original plans by the Dutch Government to cap the number of flights operating out of Amsterdam Schiphol.

Earlier this month however, it was revealed that the Dutch Government has reversed the experimental flight cap at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport.

This comes as good news for airlines who were at risk of losing slots, such as KLM and JetBlue amongst the list of others.

What comes next is that Amsterdam Schiphol Airport will continue to fight for the rights of local residents, and could explore different avenues within this away from a flight cap.

As for the airlines, for now, Summer 2024 doesn’t seem to be hindered too much by the potential disruption that would have been caused by this flight cap. For now at least.
