Jet2 has this week announced plans to invest significantly in the operations of its Newcastle & Bristol bases.
In a statement, Jet2 said that “customers at Bristol and Newcastle Airport will benefit from an even better end-to-end experience after their ramp-handling operations, which includes baggage handling, were taken in-house at both bases. “
Heapy Expands on Newcastle & Bristol Expansion…

Expanding more into this was Jet2 CEO Steve Heapy, who said the following:
“The reason we are a multiple award-winning airline and tour operator is that provide an industry-leading experience for our customers and continually look for ways to improve that even further.”
“Today’s announcement represents a significant investment in our operation, and we know it will deliver an even better end-to-end experience for our customers at both bases.”
“We are looking forward to operating our biggest-ever summer program this year, and we are absolutely delighted at the response that our fantastic product is getting from customers and independent travel agents across the UK.”
The teams at both bases now include a dedicated ramp-handling team, including Ramp Agents and Baggage Loaders.
Working as part of the Ground Operations Team, the teams are responsible for ensuring that flights depart safely and on time whilst providing a VIP experience for customers.
As a result of today’s announcement, Jet2.com and Jet2holidays now self-handle at Birmingham, Bristol, East Midlands, Leeds Bradford, Manchester, Newcastle, and London Stansted Airports.
New Destinations From The Two Jet2 Bases…

Within the Summer 2023 schedule, Jet2 will be launching services to Malaga and Chania from Newcastle, with Chania being exclusive to Bristol.
Newcastle Airport will have 36 sun and city destinations on offer, with Bristol Airport having 32 for the Summer season.
Capacity out of Bristol Airport will increase by 13% compared to last Summer, which represents strong news for the airport.
This will include the basing of a seventh aircraft at the airport to support this particular expansion.
Jet2 Remains the Largest UK Holiday Carrier…

As per reports from the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), Jet2holidays, part of the Jet2 group, is now the largest holiday company in the UK.
Such reporting is based on the Top ATOL holders report, which includes the passengers that companies are licensed to handle.

It remains clear in this case that Summer 2023 expansion for Jet2 has been the focal point, especially with its license increasing enough to establish this.
Looking ahead, it does appear to be the case that Jet2 is going to have an even stronger Summer season than last year, with post-pandemic demand still at a high level.
But for now, all eyes are on Jet2 to see how they will perform this year.
