American Airlines has this week unveiled new routes for the 2024 season, including the proposal of New York-Tokyo flights and an expansion of Caribbean & Latin America flights.
Providing the new route to Asia gets approved by the U.S DoT, this will provide some competition against the likes of Japan Airlines and ANA.
Without further ado, let’s get into it…
American Airlines’ Proposed New York-Tokyo Service…

American Airlines has proposed the following schedule for the new service between New York JFK and Tokyo Haneda Airport:
From | To | Departure time | Arrival time | Aircraft type |
---|---|---|---|---|
New York (JFK) | Tokyo Haneda (HND) | 10:00 a.m. | 1:05 p.m. (next day) | Boeing 777-200 |
HND | JFK | 3:05 p.m. | 3:10 p.m. | Boeing 777-200 |
Commenting on the route proposal was Molly Wilkinson, the airline’s VP of Regulatory & International Affairs:
“American looks forward to presenting our competitive application to provide new and enhanced service to Tokyo’s convenient Haneda Airport”.
“This will be the only nonstop service from JFK to Tokyo operated by a U.S. airline. Joining American’s existing flights from Dallas-Fort Worth and Los Angeles, JFK to Tokyo service adds an East Coast gateway for flights to Haneda, while offering the largest metropolitan area in the U.S. more options for travel to one of the most important business hubs in the world.”
