WestJet has this week unveiled new flights that will launch in the Summer & Winter from Winnipeg to Montreal, Ottawa & Nashville.

The Canadian carrier continues to identify gaps in the market that they believe they will thrive in.

The New Montreal, Ottawa & Nashville Flights from Winnipeg…

The new WestJet flights to Ottawa, Montreal and Nashville will launch throughout this year.

Ottawa & Montreal flights will begin on June 3, and will operate on a daily basis.

The Nashville services will launch on September 16 and run through to November 15, operating twice weekly.

Below is the scheduling for the flights:

• Winnipeg-Ottawa:
  • DEP 1715 ARR 2050
  • Return = DEP 2135 ARR 2326
• Winnipeg-Montreal:
  • DEP 0935 ARR 1320
  • Return = DEP 1420 ARR 1630
• Winnipeg-Nashville:
  • DEP 1110 ARR 1420
  • Return = DEP 0740 ARR 1025

With this in mind, there will be 14 weekly flights added permanently, and two weekly flights temporarily.

The scheduling for the new service between Portland and Nashville with Alaska Airlines is as follows:

Such a service means the airline will be the only carrier with a nonstop service between the two airports, offering a strong case for revenue capture and market share.

Commenting on this new route was Kirsten Amrine, the VP of Revenue Management and Network Planning for Alaska Airlines:

“We’re always focused on better connecting the Pacific Northwest with new nonstops in our network”.

“We know there’s a strong desire by our guests for an easier way to travel between Portland and Nashville.”

“Our new flight will link a pair of exciting regions that both have wide-ranging, festive entertainment and sports scenes as well as growing business centers.”

Alaska Airlines has a couple of route launches coming up, with a new nonstop service to Miami from Portland beginning on November 17, as well as Redmond/Ben resuming on November 23.

On top of this, services from Vancouver resumed over the Summer season.

All eyes will be on the carrier to see how this new service to Nashville will perform, as well as whether there will be scope to expand from daily flights onwards in the future.

The Las Vegas-based airline’s transition to the C Gate Satellite Concourse is more than just a change of location; it represents a commitment to enhancing passengers’ overall travel experience.

The state-of-the-art facility is designed to cater to the specific needs of leisure travelers, offering a plethora of amenities and features that will undoubtedly elevate the entire journey.

One of the primary motivations behind this relocation is to enable Allegiant to expand its flight schedule, offering more opportunities for travelers and laying the foundation for future growth at BNA.

Allegiant’s Impact on Music City

Allegiant’s journey with BNA began in 2018, and since then, they have carried over 1.9 million passengers through the airport.

In February 2020, they took their commitment a step further by establishing BNA as a three-aircraft base of operations.

This strategic decision resulted in the creation of 66 high-wage jobs and an investment of $50 million in infrastructure and equipment, underlining Allegiant’s dedication to Nashville’s vibrant and growing community.

Nashville, with its rich cultural history, iconic music scene, and world-class culinary offerings, has quickly become one of the most sought-after destinations in the country.

Allegiant’s service has proven to be exceptionally popular, prompting the airline to add a fourth aircraft and expand its team to better serve BNA customers.

Currently, Allegiant employs 111 team members at BNA, further cementing their commitment to the Music City.

Summary

A Boost for Nashville Air Travel

The establishment of a Crew Base at Nashville International Airport marks a significant milestone for Southwest Airlines.

This addition will make Nashville the 12th Crew Base within the Southwest® system, underscoring the airline’s intention to grow its team of Pilots and Flight Attendants.

The initial phase will witness around 150-250 Pilots, with plans to expand to 500-600 Pilots, and an estimated 500-700 Flight Attendants stationed at the new Crew location by 2024, while also considering further growth in the future.

Andrew Watterson, Chief Operating Officer at Southwest Airlines, emphasized the importance of Nashville to the airline’s success, future growth, and operational reliability.
